Leadership Team

Dr. Hitesh Tolani

Founder & CEO

Hitesh’s personal story is compelling. His success led to national immigration precedent when he fought for U.S. residency after the passing of his father. This experience emphasized for him, first-hand, the meaning of supporting others, as he watched over 35,000 people selflessly advocate for him and his family when faced with the threat of deportation. This life experience drives Hitesh’s commitment to serve others and as a public health oriented dentist, Hitesh has worked to fulfill this commitment through expanding access to oral healthcare.

As CEO, Hitesh conceptualized, nurtured, and built the foundation for Virtudent at the Harvard Innovation Lab and eventually launched the company with three desires: 1) To pay forward the kindness shown to him; 2) To advocate for all patients to receive high quality, ethical, and transparent care; and 3) To increase access to care for those who are unable to access dentistry, a basic healthcare need.

Today, when asked about Virtudent’s commitment to do good while doing well, Hitesh very gratefully points back to those 35,000 individuals who supported him and his family.

After Hitesh graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, he trained in pediatric, special needs, and public health dentistry. He completed his BS magna cum laude in computer science with an emphasis on math and biology from Wofford College.

In Hitesh’s spare time he loves visiting national parks, biking Boston, and mentoring students. Since 2015, Hitesh has served as a Senior Common Room advisor for students interested in healthcare and entrepreneurship careers at Harvard College.

John Voith

John met Hitesh in 2016. Soon after they decided to team up with a strong mutual commitment to patient care. Their aim is to innovate in the patient care delivery space and play a part in moving the U.S. healthcare system towards more affordable and higher-quality care.

At athenahealth, John managed 150+ people who were focused on improving how doctors connect electronically with each other, their teams, and their patients.

Backed by his passion for improving care delivery, John has the driving vision needed for a paradigm shift in oral healthcare delivery. As the co-founder and COO, John represents Virtudent in many different ways, working with company heads, partners, and in the community to change the status quo.

John has been a jack-of-all-trades as we grow our team and bring in talented people to build the Virtudent culture. His passion for revolutionizing healthcare is personal: it developed after he and his family had to navigate our complicated healthcare system during the illness and eventual loss of his mom.

John holds an MBA from the Wharton School of Business, a Masters in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School, and a Bachelor's degree in Biology and Public Policy from Harvard.

In his free time, John enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 kids, road biking (or riding his peloton when it's cold), food/wine tasting, and catching up with friends.
